Instructor - College of Nursing, Pediatric Urology and Gastroenterology

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing is seeking a full-time non-tenure Instructor/Assistant Professor. The responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, which includes: planning and directing the delivery of healthcare to the Pediatric Urology and Gastroenterology population. This position provides care and health education for patients and their families. In addition, 5% teaching responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with the Department Chair and the Director of Advanced Practice. Academic rank is based upon academic credentials.
- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients with urologic and gastroenterological conditions according to approved protocol and acceptable standards.
- Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician.
- Participates in the design and revision of protocols.
- Collaborates with Medical Physicians and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Make referrals as appropriate.
- Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
- Develops strong partnerships with patients, family members, fellow providers/nurses and support staff. Focus on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
- Manages the care of children with urologic and gastroenterological conditions, developing education plans for families, and ordering appropriate consultations and referrals when indicated.
EDUCATION: Master's Degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required. (Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree preferred.)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. (Experience in the role of an APRN preferred.)
LICENSES: Current DEA certification and must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support. Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee is required. Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary or Acute Care.
