Responsibilities

  • Verify patient dental insurance coverage by contacting insurance companies directly or utilizing electronic verification systems.
  • Review and interpret insurance benefits, including understanding managed care plans.
  • Ensure all patient records are accurate, complete, and compliant with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with dental office staff to confirm patient eligibility, benefits, co-payments, deductibles, and pre-authorizations prior to treatment.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of insurance verifications and communicate coverage details clearly to patients and team members.
  • Assist with processing insurance claims accurately and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate timely reimbursements.
  • Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, managed care procedures, and coding guidelines relevant to dental services.
  • Support the office's administrative functions by managing medical records related to insurance claims and ensuring proper documentation for audits.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding insurance coverage and billing processes efficiently and professionally.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental office setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dental office procedures.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to ensure privacy and security of protected health information (PHI).
  • Demonstrated ability to verify insurance benefits accurately using electronic systems or direct communication with insurance providers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
