PPCCC
is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California's Central Coast. Each year, PPCCC provides 28,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Home Health Doula (HHD) will provide nonmedical support to patients and perform administrative responsibilities to support the mission of Planned Parenthood California Central Coast Home Health (PPCCCHH). They will work under the supervision of the Home Health Manager to provide postpartum home health services to PPCCCHH patients. The HHD will work in collaboration with all health care team members to provide quality care to PPCCCHH patients in accordance with PPCCCHH medical standards and guidelines.

Essential Functions

  • Visit patients at their home and provide guidance, health navigation, evidence-based education for prenatal, postpartum, and newborn/infant care; lactation support, and linkage to community-based resources
  • Provide excellent customer service by centering each patient's experience and delivering services in a caring, unbiased, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental manner
  • Model professional behavior and participate in a team approach to patient care by working cooperatively with others to achieve productivity standards while providing exceptional customer service
  • Manage a caseload of patients according to priority, complexity and necessary follow-up, under the supervision of the Program Manager
  • Complete follow-up activities as appropriate.
  • Provide telephone consultation as needed.
  • Provide special emphasis on care coordination for high-risk patients and/or parents, e.g. those with chronic health conditions, substance abuse issues, and those demonstrating a need for support with mental health and/or infant attachment. This special attention includes outreach, education, and linking those high-risk patients to relevant services
  • Work to support case management improvement with the successful provision of quality doula services, documentation, and sharing of community resources, to meet affiliate and community needs
  • Assist the Program Manager in providing initial onboarding and subsequent training for HHDs
  • Serve as a resource to other HHDs and non-licensed staff
  • Work with a team to recommend, develop and implement quality improvement initiatives
  • Adhere to PPCCCHH policies and procedures concerning OSHA, CLIA, occurrence reporting, and all other staff and patient safety issues
  • Participate in required staff meetings, conference calls, and mandatory all staff trainings
  • Accurately perform and document comprehensive and focused patient evaluations within their scope of practice and according to standardized procedures
  • Direct patients with abnormal symptoms to contact the Program Manager or their physician per PPCCCHH protocols
  • Abide by PPCCCHH's Compliance, Risk and Quality Management Program, including adhering to the Standards of Conduct and participating in quality assurance activities for services provided
  • Provide information about potential or suspected health conditions to the Program Manager and participate in multi-disciplinary case conferences to review patient's and family's needs and to integrate services efficiently and within the parameters of HIPAA
  • Evaluate psychosocial, family, support, and life skill needs, provide assistance as desired and required by the family, and make appropriate linkage to community resources
  • Evaluate housing, environmental, and safety needs, provide assistance as desired and required by the family, and make appropriate linkage to community resources
  • Evaluate child development, parenting, and childcare needs, provide assistance as desired and required by the family, and make appropriate linkage to community resources
  • Provide lactation and/or infant feeding support as desired and required by the family
  • Provide anticipatory guidance about impending physical and psychological stages
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or CMO

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a busy environment under pressure without compromising accuracy, attention to detail, and courtesy to clients and staff

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Valid California Driver's license and appropriate insurance
  • Ability to travel within PPCCCHH designated geographic area (Thousand Oaks to San Luis Obispo)
  • Ability to work autonomously within a set of protocols
  • Knowledge of community served desired
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred

Education And/or Experience

  • Trained Doula or minimum five years' active Doula experience
  • CPR Certification completion within 90 days

Planned Parenthood California Central Coast's (PPCCC's) compensation philosophy supports the organization's mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization's pay levels.
The starting salary for this position is $37.82/hour
with the opportunity for advancement. As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries.

Pay Differential: $1.00 bilingual Spanish/English differential pay is offered upon passing the language assessment test.
