POSITION SUMMARY:

YMCA Group X Instructors (YGXi) support the service of the Y, a leading 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to strengthening community, with a FOR ALL mindset.

YGX Instructors lead Group X classes in a safe, positive, and engaging environment with classes designed for every fitness level. Additional skills required: the GXi effectively builds community within each class, helps communicate branch information to members, maintains cleanliness of studio spaces, uses AV equipment with regard to longevity, reports equipment malfunctions or items needing replacement, accurately tracks class attendance in MindBody, properly accounts for approved teaching time by clocking in and out for their classes, has excellent attendance in the classes they teach, supports the YGX team by subbing when needed, and attends required trainings and meetings as determined by the Association and branch leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads energizing, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members and creates a community
  • Keeps accurate class attendance records.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Current required certifications, training, and fees related to licensed formats are the responsibility of the instructor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, within first 30 days of employment and renew each year through the Y.
  • Complete Group X onboarding within first 30 days
  • Hold national Group X certification for non-licensed formats and required certification needed for licensed formats
