Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote childhood development, early learning, and social-emotional growth.
- Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence.
- Engage children in educational activities that support preschool education standards, including language development, motor skills, and basic numeracy.
- Monitor and support children's behavior through positive behavior management techniques, ensuring a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
- Provide attentive childcare, including infant care, toddler care, and general preschool supervision during daily routines such as snack time, outdoor play, naps, and circle time.
- Maintain open communication with parents or guardians regarding each child's progress, needs, and any concerns.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by applying first aid when necessary and maintaining a clean classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan special events or activities that enhance the preschool experience.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing inclusive care in accordance with best practices in special education.
- Document children's developmental milestones and keep accurate records of daily activities for ongoing assessment.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in a preschool or daycare setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education methodologies.
- Certification in first aid is required; additional certifications such as CPR or specialized training in special education are advantageous.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
- Strong classroom management skills to foster a positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication skills to build trusting relationships with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to handle caregiving responsibilities including infant care, toddler care, babysitting or nannying experience is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively while maintaining patience and compassion.
