Job Overview

Duties

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote childhood development, early learning, and social-emotional growth.
  • Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence.
  • Engage children in educational activities that support preschool education standards, including language development, motor skills, and basic numeracy.
  • Monitor and support children's behavior through positive behavior management techniques, ensuring a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Provide attentive childcare, including infant care, toddler care, and general preschool supervision during daily routines such as snack time, outdoor play, naps, and circle time.
  • Maintain open communication with parents or guardians regarding each child's progress, needs, and any concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by applying first aid when necessary and maintaining a clean classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan special events or activities that enhance the preschool experience.
  • Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing inclusive care in accordance with best practices in special education.
  • Document children's developmental milestones and keep accurate records of daily activities for ongoing assessment.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in a preschool or daycare setting is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education methodologies.
  • Certification in first aid is required; additional certifications such as CPR or specialized training in special education are advantageous.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
  • Strong classroom management skills to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to build trusting relationships with children, parents, and team members.
  • Ability to handle caregiving responsibilities including infant care, toddler care, babysitting or nannying experience is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively while maintaining patience and compassion.
