Freelance Interior Designer (San Francisco Bay Area)

About the Role

We are seeking a talented freelance interior designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area to support a high-end residential design studio. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer who is technically strong, creatively driven, and comfortable wearing multiple hats.

The position requires a mix of design production, on-site support, sourcing, and light personal assistant tasks, with availability to work in person as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Create CAD drawings (floor plans, elevations, details as required)
  • Produce 3D renderings and visual presentations
  • Assist with local sourcing, showroom visits, and vendor coordination
  • Attend in-person site visits, installations, and meetings as needed
  • Support the design process from concept through execution
  • Provide light personal assistant support (errands, scheduling assistance, project-related logistics)
  • Help keep projects organized, on track, and running smoothly

Qualifications

  • Degree or formal training in Interior Design or related field
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Experience creating high-quality renderings (SketchUp, V-Ray, Enscape, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Bay Area vendors, showrooms, and sourcing resources is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Professional, polished, and comfortable working with high-end clients
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work in person when needed
  • Self-starter with a flexible schedule and positive attitude
