Description

The Research Assistant/Associate will assist Staff Scientists, Postdocs and other members of the TB team with day to day tasks that may include performing research and data management.

Our Ideal Candidate: 

  • Conduct molecular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, and quantitative RT-PCR, and assist team members as needed.
  • Perform immunology experiments, such as tissue culture, blood processing, and isolation of lymphocytes and macrophages.
  • Support laboratory operations by preparing reagents, maintaining inventory, stocking supplies, and assisting with shipping/receiving non-infectious or biohazard materials.
  • Perform microbiology experiments, including media preparation, bacterial culturing, and strain modification.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. General knowledge of BSL2 biosafety protocols is required; prior BSL3 experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Working Environment: 

Work involves handling BSL2 and BSL3 pathogens, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, SARS-CoV-2, and SIV. Requires moderate physical activity such as standing, walking, and handling equipment. Vaccinations may be required, and participation in medical monitoring is mandatory. Safety training and protective equipment are provided.
