About the Role:

The Dining Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of dining services within a retail trade environment. This position is responsible for overseeing daily dining activities, managing staff performance, and maintaining high standards of customer service and food quality. The Dining Supervisor will coordinate with kitchen and service teams to optimize workflow and enhance the overall dining experience for customers. They will also be instrumental in implementing health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies. Ultimately, the role aims to create a welcoming and well-organized dining atmosphere that supports business goals and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a dining or food service environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in food safety or hospitality management.
  • Experience working in a retail trade or similar fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in scheduling and inventory management software.
  • Leadership training or management coursework.
  • Multilingual abilities to effectively communicate with diverse customer and staff populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of dining staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Monitor food preparation and presentation to maintain quality and consistency standards.
  • Manage staff schedules, training, and performance evaluations to foster a productive team environment.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations within the dining area.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any service-related issues promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and retail management to align dining operations with overall business objectives.
  • Maintain inventory levels of dining supplies and coordinate with suppliers as needed.
  • Prepare reports on dining operations, including customer feedback and staff performance metrics.

The Dining Supervisor utilizes strong leadership and organizational skills daily to manage and motivate the dining team, ensuring efficient service and high customer satisfaction. Communication skills are essential for coordinating between kitchen staff, front-of-house employees, and customers, as well as for resolving conflicts and providing clear instructions. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation is applied continuously to maintain compliance and promote a safe dining environment. Problem-solving skills are critical when addressing operational challenges or customer concerns promptly and effectively. Additionally, proficiency with scheduling and inventory tools supports smooth operational planning and resource management.
