Med tech- PT/PRN

The Med Tech ensures timely distribution of medication to all residents by providing assistance with medication administration as prescribed by healthcare provider. This role is crucial in ensuring that the leadership of the communtiy continues after busniness hours, holding frontline staff accounatble, and applicants MUST have a minimum of two years professional memory care and leadership experience.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership of community and fronline staff after business hours
• Provide care and assistance with the functions of daily living
• Maintain residents' health records/resident charts by timely documenting any changes in health, incidents, and observation of unusual occurrences
• Maintain Medication Observation Records
• Assist with self-administration of medication
• Respond quickly to emergencies
• Coordinate physician/hospital visits
• Maintain confidentiality
• Communicate effectively with all staff, residents and their families
• Assist team members with the following personal care functions and explain each procedure to the resident as care is given: dental and mouth care, bathing, dressing and grooming, hair and nail care, shaving, bowel and bladder care, and other personal and hygiene care.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of two years leadership experience in a LTC setting
• 4 hour Certification for Self-Administration of Medication
• current CPR/First Aid certification a plus
• minimum of two years professional memory care experience
• ability to be on his/her feet for prolonged periods
• self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills
• ability to pass pre-employment drug-and background screening (level 2)

PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED Frequent body movements to include lifting, moving, transferring, bending (static forward bending), stooping/squatting, and reaching. Able to do heavy lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted with twisting and turning of trunk. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Because the essential functions of the job of the Team Leader/Med Assist Tech often require exposure to bodily functions and infectious waste, diseases, odors and other situations associated with health care, including but not limited to exposure to AIDS, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses involving Risk Classification Categories 2 and 3, environmental and safety conditions will fluctuate. To be qualified for the position of Team Leader/Med Tech, an applicant/employee will have the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others.
