Afterschool Assistant – Cathedral School of St. Jude (2025–2026)

The Cathedral School of St. Jude in St. Petersburg is seeking a qualified Afterschool Assistant for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a permanent, part-time position, Monday through Friday from 2:30–6:00 PM, not to exceed 29 hours per week. The assistant will work with Early Childhood and Kindergarten students.

Job Responsibilities:

– Supervise and engage children ages 2–5 in age-appropriate activities

– Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment

– Support social, emotional, and developmental growth through play and guided instruction

– Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff

– Follow all school and state safety procedures

– A caring, enthusiastic individual who loves working with young children

– A team player with a positive attitude

– Someone who is dependable, flexible, and professional

– An individual with strong communication and classroom management skills

Requirements:

– Completion or progress toward DCF's 40 clock hours and 5 hours of literacy training

– Experience working with children ages 2–5; CDA is a plus but not required

– Required Diocesan Safe environment and related classes.

– Level II background screening clearance; required DCF and Diocesan fingerprints.

– Ability to follow guidance from administration and work well with others

Pay is based on education and experience.
