About the Position

We're looking for an experienced Part-Time Sushi Chef to join a busy and growing Japanese restaurant in Cedar Park, TX.

This role requires someone who can take the lead and run the sushi bar when the head chef is off, maintaining high standards for quality, consistency, and presentation.

The ideal candidate is dependable, skilled in both traditional and modern sushi techniques, and confident working independently with minimal supervision.

We are new owners of the restaurant and building a strong, long-term team — offering room for growth as we continue to expand and develop our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all types of sushi including rolls, nigiri, and sashimi
  • Lead sushi bar operations during shifts when the head chef is off
  • Maintain consistent portioning, presentation, and quality
  • Manage daily prep, setup, and cleanup efficiently
  • Monitor inventory and communicate ingredient needs
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Help train or guide junior sushi staff when needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional sushi chef experience (required)
  • Strong knife and fish-handling skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead when needed
  • Reliable, organized, and able to handle high-volume periods
  • Open to working full-day shifts on select days of the week

Schedule

  • 30–40 hours per week
  • Closed on Mondays
  • Flexible scheduling based on business needs
