Element has an opportunity for a
Test Engineer - Battery
to join our rapidly expanding team in Warren, MI. Element Warren has supported growth and innovation for over 100 years and has become one of the leading automotive testing laboratories in the United States. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies within a local laboratory
- Be accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers including sign-offs of quality control data as acceptable
- Be expected to obtain guidance in non-routine situation testing
- Have the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem solving activities
- Interact with customers on technical issues and questions
- Provide Input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers
- Be confident in making both formal and informal presentations on conventional and/or routine testing to a wide range of stakeholders
- Assist in the professional development of novice technicians and engineers within the local laboratory
- Carry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data
- Utilize an assortment of skill, methods, procedures and materials in advanced testing analysis
- Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions
- Work to ISO 17025 guidelines
Skills / Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelors of Science degree in a science or testing related field
- Have a minimum of 2 years' pertinent post degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualifications
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline
- Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element's business
- In-depth understanding of testing concepts
- Can analyze and compiles testing data from the tests performed
- Possess strong computer skills
