Part-Time Retail Sales Associate

Reports to: Store Manager (location specific)

Pay Rate: $16.50–$19.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Expected timeframe to fill position: 11/30/2025

Schedule: Part-time, generally 10–29 hours/week; must be available evenings, weekends, and state/federal holidays as scheduled. Overtime paid in accordance with applicable law.

Job Summary

Retail Sales Associates are enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable ambassadors of the Good Chemistry brand. You'll provide a welcoming experience, educate customers on our products, and tailor each visit to individual needs. You'll also communicate Good Chemistry's initiatives and principles and maintain compliance with all company policies and Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide an outstanding customer experience to everyone who enters the dispensary.
• Warmly greet each guest and set a professional, compliant tone.
• Arrive on time, prepared for all scheduled shifts.
• Build rapport to encourage return visits and loyalty.
• Check IDs at required touchpoints; ensure all transactions comply with company policy and CCC rules.
• Accurately enter/maintain customer information in required systems (e.g., Virtual Gateway, MassCIP, and Dutchie) and follow privacy protocols.
• Educate customers on Good Chemistry's message; strains, products, delivery methods; potency, storage, serving size, and tolerance.
• Make informed product recommendations based on guest needs.
• Complete daily opening/closing checklists and other assigned tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized sales floor and workstations.
• Follow cash-handling and inventory control procedures; safeguard all money and products at your POS or assigned station.
• Direct guests to additional resources (website, menu) and assist with online ordering as needed.
• Communicate needs or issues promptly to the Junior Assistant Manager/Key Holder, Assistant Store Manager (ASM), or Store Manager (SM).
• Represent Good Chemistry professionally on and off the sales floor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by ASM/SM.

Job Requirements (Education & Experience)

• Must be at least 21 years old and able to pass a CORI background check.
• Customer service or retail sales experience required; cannabis experience a plus.
• Point-of-sale (POS) experience preferred.
• Comfortable working closely with diverse personalities and customer needs.
• Familiarity with CCC requirements preferred; willingness to learn is essential.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Basic knowledge of cannabis weights, product categories, strain classifications, genetics, and compliance—or the ability to learn quickly.
• Genuine enthusiasm for cannabis and the industry.
• Positive attitude in a high-volume, fast-paced retail setting.
• Proven cash-handling accuracy; ability to follow inventory procedures.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; lift/move up to 25 lbs; bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Apple OS.
• Strong verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with new people.
• Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.

Compliance & Training

• Must complete Responsible Vendor Training (RVT) within 90 days of hire and maintain annual recertification.
• Must maintain active Agent Registration and comply with all company SOPs and CCC regulations.
• Participation in periodic compliance, safety, and product-knowledge trainings is required; training time is paid.

Classification & Benefits Eligibility

• Employment Type: Part-Time (Non-Exempt).
• Benefits Eligibility: This position is part-time and not eligible for company-sponsored benefits. Employees in this classification are regularly scheduled to work fewer than 30 hours per week.
• Leave & Accruals: Part-time employees accrue Massachusetts Earned Sick Time in accordance with applicable law. Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) contributions and coverage apply as required by law.
