We are seeking a Sales Engineer to expand our outside sales presence and drive growth through technical expertise, relationship building, and territory development.
Position Summary:
The Sales Engineer is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities within assigned territories, focusing on UL Listed and custom enclosure solutions. This role combines strong technical understanding with sales acumen to support customers from initial concept through production, ensuring solutions meet both engineering and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow outside sales within the Mid-Atlantic region and target markets.
- Identify and pursue new customer opportunities, leveraging technical knowledge of UL standards, materials, and enclosure design.
- Serve as a technical liaison between customers and internal engineering, estimating, and production teams.
- Conduct on-site customer visits, presentations, and technical consultations to understand project requirements.
- Prepare and deliver proposals, quotations, and cost estimates with support from the estimating team.
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers to expand product and service offerings.
- Provide input on market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to inform company strategy.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop customized enclosure solutions and ensure design-for-manufacture compatibility.
- Meet or exceed annual sales and margin goals.
Qualifications:
- Background in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of technical sales experience in sheet metal fabrication, enclosures, or electrical products.
- Familiarity with UL standards and electrical enclosure applications strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to develop new business and manage long-term customer relationships.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in the field.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, ERP tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
