Are you passionate about supporting children and families in crisis? We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Care Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct support to parents and children, manage our crisis helpline, and ensure families receive the care and resources they need.
Position Overview
Schedule: Part- Time Sat-Sun 8a -5pm
Location: Crisis Nursery
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary responder for the Crisis Nursery Helpline, providing assessment, crisis counseling, and referrals.
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and discharges for children admitted to the Crisis Nursery.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families, offering guidance, crisis intervention, and goal-setting support.
- Actively engage with children on the nursery floor, facilitating structured activities and supporting staff.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care, prioritizing space to assist as many families as possible.
- Maintain detailed, timely documentation of interactions, assessments, and case management activities.
- Collaborate with the Family Empowerment Counselor/Social Worker and advocate for families by connecting them to community resources.
- Participate in on-call rotation, responding to crisis situations, supporting staff, and overseeing intakes and discharges.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Counseling, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Experience:
- At least one year of paid experience working with children or families (two years preferred).
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
