Summary
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the standards development, technical training, certification, and overall professional growth of the Manufacturing Engineering Machining team. The manager will provide strategic direction, technical support, and drive process optimization to support machining operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to align project timelines, team goals and resource planning.
- Monitor team progress against objectives, ensuring timely completion and providing regular updates to the EM.
- Demonstrate expert-level knowledge in machining equipment and methods including tool design, milling, EDM wire, sinker, hole-drill), technologies.
Develop, document and train team on set of core, standard processes, inclusive of
Fixture validation (load checks, dim conformance)
- CAM software and macro programming
Tool standardization/control, process variable standards and control strategies.
Lead technical training, cross-training, to ensure workforce flexibility and long-term organizational capability.
- Establish and manage a certification program covering CAM software, machine code, machining proficiency, and test-machine evaluations for new hires.
Oversee process change, management, including:
Program edits via CAM and associate approval process
- Change documentation, storage, accessibility, and validation
- Champion continuous improvement by leveraging data analysis, emerging technologies, and process redesign to enhance safety, quality, and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
- 10+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, including proven technical leadership.
- Demonstrated success in component/process development and leading cross functional engineering initiatives.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical information clearly.
- Skilled in writing reports, documentation, and technical correspondence.
- Comfortable presenting to customers, leadership, and internal teams.
- Strong proficiency in mathematical analysis and decision-making based on engineering principles and technical data.
- Advanced computer skills, including use of email, Word, Excel, CAD/CAM software, and engineering documentation tools.
