Job Summary

The Child and Youth Program Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of children and youth in our programs. This position involves working closely with children of various ages, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and school age to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and experience in childcare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Provide care for infants and toddlers, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Support children with disabilities by adapting activities to meet their individual needs.
  • Foster a positive learning environment through effective behavior management techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom or play area to ensure a safe space for children.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive team approach to childcare.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to early childhood education and caregiving.

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience working with children in various capacities such as babysitting, nannying, or daycare settings.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
  • Familiarity with first aid procedures is preferred or willing to be trained
  • Background in teaching or classroom experience is advantageous.
  • Experience caring for infants and toddlers is highly desirable.
