Job Summary

Summary:

The Quality Assurance Engineer will provide quality assurance engineering support to product realization processes (requirements review/planning, design development, procurement, and production). Perform quality engineering functional role in material review disposition, communicate and ensure compliance to customer requirements from design to delivery. Ideal candidates will have excellent skills in collaborative problem solving, the willingness to overcome constraints, and the internal drive to create quality products.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) and its compliance to AS9100D
  • Perform audits of specific areas, processes, and procedures including internal QMS audits.
  • Write and update quality planning for customer required quality planning such as Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL).
  • Evaluate design outputs and evaluate and approve configuration changes.
  • Provide technical and compliance support to design and production activities to achieve compliance to customer requirements. Be able to make decisions (referee) on product conformity issues.
  • Interface with government and customer source inspectors and representatives.
  • Coordinate outside lab failure analysis for effective results, as needed.
  • Write failure analysis reports using collaborative input for cause statement from engineering and test.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI), as required.
  • Support project team solutions when product failures and defect trends are identified.
  • Train quality requirements for ESD and FOD control, QMS procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Initiate, monitor, and close corrective action requests (CARs) and non-conformance reports (NCRs), including containment, root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Prepare reports on performance and progress and present them to management
  • Oversight of junior quality team members
  • Other duties as required

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in quality assurance.

Required Skills:

  • Highly proficient in root cause analysis with the ability to identify problems quickly and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Exposure to many aspects of engineering development (electronics, mechanical, software) and testing
  • Knowledge of Six-Sigma, Process Control, Gage Capability Analysis
  • Excellent critical thinking, attention to details, numerical skills, team working skills and problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational, communications, leadership, and interpersonal skills٫ together with a results-driven approach
  • Internal auditing.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ERP and MRP Systems (Microsoft Nav, Deltek, SAP, etc.)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, SharePoint, etc.)

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of the educational requirement

ITAR Requirements

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR § or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
