Responsibilities

What does your day look like as an heavy mobile equipment technical specialist:

  • You support sites that use heavy machinery (forklifts, wheel loaders, cranes) with reliability issues, replacements, and major repairs;
  • You train mechanics on preventive and corrective maintenance procedures;
  • You collaborate with heavy equipment suppliers for acquisitions and service contracts;
  • You maintain relationships with heavy equipment manufacturers (Volvo, Liebherr, Komatsu, Caterpillar, etc.);
  • You work with the procurement and operations teams to draft tenders based on heavy equipment needs;
  • You analyze the bids received;
  • You inspect and review heavy equipment maintenance;
  • You perform reliability analysis in the field and plan equipment replacements;
  • You act as a safety ambassador for maintenance mechanics;
  • You provide leadership within the maintenance supervisors' community;
  • You stay informed about grants and funding opportunities for equipment replacement.
Qualifications

To succeed as an heavy mobile equipment technical specialist, you must have:

  • B.A in mechanical engineering or DSC in mechanic;
  • 10 years of experience in managing maintenance and rehabilitation projects for heavy equipment (forklifts, loaders, excavators);
  • Advanced skills in electrical diagnostics, programming, and signals. Proficiency in OEM telematics suites;
  • TWIC card (an asset);
  • Valid passport required;
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English; Spanish is an asset.
  • Strong sense of priorities and ability to adapt in a constantly evolving environment;
  • Attention to detail, autonomy, and a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration;
  • Ability to work or travel outside normal working hours as operational needs require;
  • Excellent priority management and ability to work under pressure, especially when troubleshooting heavy equipment breakdowns.
