Position Overview

DCG is seeking a social media and data analytics specialist to support a mission-driven federal client focused on law enforcement, public safety, and national security. This role builds a clear picture of how content performs across web, email, and social platforms and uses those findings to make strategic data driven recommendations to drive practical communication strategy, goals and reach. The candidate must be comfortable working with tools such as Meltwater, GA4, and native platform dashboards, organizing metrics into clear stories for leaders, and recommending specific changes to content, timing, and channel mix. This team also monitors viral trends and online narratives tied to client priorities, flags emerging risks or openings, and helps shape proactive campaigns grounded in real audience behavior.

Location

Remote; the selected candidate will work during DCG's core Eastern Standard Time business hours. Candidates located within the National Capital Region will be given preference given the possibility for ad-hoc, in-person support.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with communication evaluations and provide strategic guidance based on social media, digital, and audience performance metrics.

  • Conduct market research, analyze public perception, and translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Manage projects from end-to-end, including planning, coordination with subcontractors, schedule management, deliverable tracking, and regular client reporting
  • Organize public relations activities, including news conferences, tours, product launch events, and speaking engagements
  • Create campaigns and partner with business leaders to relay insights, perceptions, and research outcomes to support the communication strategy
  • Develop and deliver customized training sessions and materials on communications, media, or marketing topics for individuals or groups
  • Establish baseline metrics across social platforms, track performance trends, and translate results into recommendations that support mission objectives
  • Track impressions, engagement, and audience behavior to guide content decisions that drive measurable improvement
  • Provide monthly recommendations that directly inform tactical adjustments to strengthen reach and engagement
  • Monitor social trends and viral content early to ensure the client can anticipate conversations and craft timely responses
  • Use analytics tools like GA4 and GovDelivery to connect digital performance with press outcomes and journalist engagement
  • Cross-reference media inquiry data with digital behavior to identify which reporters are interacting with content
  • Analyze audience behavior to inform targeted regional pushes or issue-specific campaigns
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public administration, planning, marketing or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum 6+ years of related corporate communications/public relations experience; journalism background. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in project management.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain suitability within the Department of Homeland Security
