Job Summary and Qualifications

As Utility Worker, you will be assigned to assist in any area of the Food Service Department.

  • You will wash work tables, walls, ceilings, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
  • You will sweep, mop, clean, and vacuum floors.
  • You will remove trash and garbage to designated areas.
  • You will receive and transfer supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas (e.g., pantry and dish room).
  • You will receive food and other supplies from vendors using food-safe methods (management will provide training).
  • You will store food using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method and track expiration dates daily to prevent expired items.
  • You will clean equipment using specific chemicals to maintain sanitary standards.
  • You will attend all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training sessions.
  • You will comply with all company policies and procedures and report all accidents and injuries promptly.
  • You will follow all company safety and risk management policies and procedures and participate in regular safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
  • You will attend designated training programs (classroom and virtual) and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • You will maintain equipment and perform preventive maintenance as trained.
What qualifications you will need:
  • At least 6 months of food service experience in food service
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent – preferred
  • Food Handlers Permit must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date

St. David's Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare, is a comprehensive medical facility with three locations: St. David's Medical Center, Heart Hospital of Austin, and St. David's Georgetown Hospital.
