General Notes

We are seeking a highly motivated and culturally competent undergraduate Research Assistant to support a community-based study focused on Korean and Korean-American populations. This role involves direct outreach, bilingual communication, and administrative support, offering hands-on experience in participant recruitment and community-engaged research. Orientation and training on research ethics, recruitment protocols, and cultural sensitivity will be provided, as well as ongoing mentorship and supervision by the research team. ​Application Deadline: 09/30/25

Responsibilities

  • Community Outreach & Engagement

    • Identify Korean organizations and businesses online that may support study outreach.

    • Participate in in-person outreach activities as needed.

    • Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with community leaders and organizational contacts.

  • Recruitment Communication & Dissemination

    • Share study announcements via Korean-American online platforms (e.g., KakaoTalk, Instagram, forums).

    • Distribute printed and digital materials in online/offline communities (e.g., churches, senior centers, cultural events).

    • Make outreach phone calls and speak with representatives to build and maintain recruitment partnerships.

    • Translate study materials (e.g., announcements, consent forms) into Korean when needed.

    • Monitor and report responses and inquiries to the research team.

  • Support, Strategy & Development

    • Contribute to the development and improvement of recruitment strategies through team meetings.

    • Maintain detailed recruitment logs and prepare status reports for team meetings.

    • Participate in weekly team meetings and apply research ethics and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student.

  • Fluent in Korean and English (spoken and written).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Interest in community-based research and Korean-American communities.

  • Responsible, organized, and able to work independently in a team environment.

  • Prior experience in outreach or translation is a plus.
