Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions for a fast-paced, last-mile delivery operation operating within the Amazon and FedEx models. This role supports a high-volume hourly workforce and partners closely with operational leadership to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and promote consistent application of company policies. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment and managing complex employee relations, workers' compensation, and attendance matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Employment Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Manage I-9, E-Verify, personnel files, and record retention requirements
- Interpret and consistently apply company policies and procedures
- Partner with leadership to address conduct, attendance, and performance issues
- Maintain documentation related to audits, claims, and regulatory inquiries
- Employee Lifecycle Management
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding of delivery associates and support staff
- Maintain accurate employee records across HRIS and payroll systems
- Support corrective action, discipline, and termination processes
- Provide guidance on attendance reliability, job abandonment, and eligibility to work
- Payroll, Benefits & HR Systems
- Coordinate payroll processing, corrections, and wage adjustments
- Ensure accurate timekeeping and pay practices for a large hourly workforce
- Administer benefits enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries
- Serve as the primary administrator for HR and payroll platforms
- Workers' Compensation, Safety & Accommodations
- Manage workers' compensation claims from injury through return-to-work
- Coordinate with carriers, TPAs, medical providers, and leadership
- Facilitate light-duty and accommodated work assignments consistent with medical restrictions
- Communicate attendance expectations and work requirements to employees on claim
- Monitor participation and address non-compliance with accommodated work assignments
- Leave Administration
- Administer FMLA and other applicable leaves of absence
- Track eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work timelines
- Communicate leave expectations clearly to employees and managers
- Policy Development & Leadership Support
- Develop, maintain, and enforce HR policies specific to a last-mile delivery environment
- Draft clear written communications to employees regarding policies and expectations
- Provide guidance and training to leadership on HR best practices
- Serve as a trusted advisor to ownership and operations leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
3–5+ years of HR experience, preferably in logistics, transportation, or a high-volume hourly workforce
Strong working knowledge of employment law, workers' compensation, and leave administration
Experience supporting safety-sensitive roles
Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, and electronic compliance systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
