The Power Engineer provides a valuable service for Apadana companies, primarily the Apadana Solar Technologies business. This engineer will handle a broad range of tasks that support the design and implementation of solar PV systems, EV infrastructure, and energy storage systems. He/she will also conduct research on emerging technologies within and adjacent to Apadana's existing lines of business. This research will result in actionable product plans that brings the company into these sectors with a high value, differentiated offering. The Engineer will benefit from mentoring relationships provided by senior engineer leadership within the Company who will help to diversify and expand the engineer's professional growth.

Solar, EV and Storage Engineering The Engineer will be responsible for the following:

Pre-Sales.

  • Respond to Request for Proposals and/or estimates for Solar, EV chargers, and Battery storage systems, preparing a proposal and necessary bid documents.
  • Create preliminary proposals for residential, commercial, non-profit, and utility scale solar projects, EV-charger projects and/or battery storage system projects.
  • Perform site evaluations, scheduling and coordinating site visit with the customer and solar installation crew.
  • Create updated proposals based on the site visit information and communicate the changes to the customer.
  • Follow up with the customer and answer their questions leading to a sales contract.

Implementation.

  • Complete an interconnection application for each solar (and/or battery storage) project and ensure all necessary documents/information is provided to the utility and manage process through completion of the application and generation of the interconnection agreement.
  • Create an engineering document package for each Solar/EV/Battery project that meets both permitting jurisdiction and utility requirements.
  • Secure building permit for each solar installation.
  • Secure electrical permit for each solar/battery storage/EV charger installation.
  • Create BOM (bill of material) and specify project materials.
  • Share the BOM with Operations and help ensure that they create and procure the BOS (balance of system) material for each system before mobilization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the smooth transition of the projects between Engineering and Operations.
  • Support the Operations team and solar crew during installation.
  • Create appropriate plaque design for each solar job and order the plaques.
  • Qualify completed projects and release for final Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) inspection. Coordinate with solar crew and make sure they schedule electrical inspection after they complete their installation.
  • Obtain (passed) signed electrical inspection forms from the crew, upload them to utility portal and archive a copy in customer folder.
  • Coordinate with solar crew and ensure they setup the monitoring for each solar project after the system is being commissioned by utility and check our monitoring platform to make sure that the whole system is functional and there is no error.
  • Call for the building inspection and close the building permits for solar project after you receive the signed electrical inspection form.
  • Create Operating and Maintenance manual for each solar customer when the installation is complete.

Enabling Personal Competencies and Experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree or greater in a related Engineering discipline, preferably electrical
  • Solar or general electrical design engineering and/or implementation experience is desirable, but we will train.
  • Strong technical acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to expand beyond one discipline.
  • Interest in sustainability sector and sustainability projects.
  • Capable of driving projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or pathway to PE licensure a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MSOffice applications, MasterSpec, solar design software, and/or NEC would be valuable
