The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) provides inpatient psychiatric care to persons with serious mental illness who need long-term behavioral health care. ASH promotes hope and wellness for our patients and creates opportunities to participate in planning, delivering and evaluating services that assist with recovery. Treatment is individualized with goals that focus on education about an illness, instilling hope and improving one's overall quality of life. The Arizona State Hospital has a wide range of positions available, from our direct care staff, Nurses and Behavioral Health Technicians to Social Workers, Rehabilitation Specialist and Security to name a few. The Arizona State Hospital also offers 12 hour shifts for our Direct Care staff as well as some alternative work schedules, flexible hours for non-direct care staff. We offer a robust benefit package, including the ADHS Student Loan Assistance Program where eligible employees can receive up to $300.00 per month for their outstanding student loans. Job Summary:
Within the Scope of Practice, the Family Nurse Practitioner provides in-patient medical care to patients at the Arizona State Hospital. This position is responsible for medical assessment, diagnosis and treatment to assist patients, prescribes medication, ordering lab tests and other procedures via the electronic Physician Order Entry system, completes required documentation in the Electronic Medical Record, participates in hospital committees when necessary and assists in developing policies and procedures when necessary, and works with interdisciplinary team members in coordination care and treatment.
Job Duties:
- Conducts Providers lines and prescribes required treatment/procedures as required for patients.
- Performs minor surgery and other treatments as authorized by licensure and approved by supervising physician.
- Performs emergency procedures as required
- Attends hospital committees and medical staff meetings.
- Completes required documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)

Knowledge of:
- Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
Ability to:

Selective Preference(s):
- Master of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must possess a current and valid license as a Nurse Practitioner from the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
A State hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.
