We are a well-established Intellectual Property law firm dedicated to providing exceptional service to our domestic and international clients. Our team handles a wide range of patent and trademark matters, and we are seeking a detail-oriented Patent Docketing Specialist to join our growing practice.
Position Overview
The Patent Docketing Specialist will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our IP docketing system. This position is responsible for reviewing, entering, and monitoring all incoming U.S. and foreign patent correspondence and ensuring that all deadlines are captured and communicated in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and accurately docket all incoming U.S. and foreign patent correspondence, including USPTO communications, WIPO/PCT filings, Hague correspondence, client instructions, and foreign associate updates.
- Maintain and update the firm's CPI docketing database to ensure all deadlines are properly recorded.
- Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly docket reports to attorneys and staff.
- Monitor upcoming deadlines and follow up as necessary to ensure timely filings and responses.
- Assist with quality control checks of docket entries.
- Support attorneys, paralegals, and staff with docket-related inquiries.
- Coordinate with foreign associates and clients regarding docketing matters as needed.
- Generate and distribute custom reports upon Attorney or Client request.
- Perform other administrative tasks related to IP docket management.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in patent docketing within an IP law firm or corporate IP department required (2+ years).
- Strong understanding of USPTO, PCT, and foreign patent office procedures and deadlines.
- Proficiency with major docketing systems (e.g., CPI (preferred), FoundationIP, Anaqua, Patricia, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both patent and trademark docketing.
- Experience in a high-volume IP practice.
Benefits
- The Salary range is $60,000 to $90,000 annually commensurate with experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical and 401k.
