Position Description

The Assistant Director of Nursing will supervise the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with current regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality of care is maintained at all times. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist DON in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating day-to-day functions of the nursing department, including therapy, in accordance with state & federal regulations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance by participating in or conducting mock surveys, patient interviews & randomly assessing medical administration records.
  • Reviews 24-hour report from every unit daily to monitor & ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in resident conditions, transfers, discharges, unexplained injuries, falls, behavioral episodes, medication errors, etc.
  • Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies & institutions to improve quality of services & to resolve identified problems.
  • Coordinates/oversees Restorative Program & restorative staff, as needed.
  • Conducts compliance & nursing rounds on all units as needed several times a day, including the beginning & end of each shift, speaking with residents/family and/or staff as needed.

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state or compact state.

  • Must have 2 years' experience as an RN, with 2 years management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of long-term care regulations preferred.
