Description:

The Metal Fabricator is responsible for assisting ImagiCorps' overall production needs by producing top quality exhibits and fixtures as specified and instructed by the Manufacturing Manager. As a Metal Fabricator you are responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, fabricating metal components or structures.

You have a good eye for detail, and you are motivated team player. Your aim is to sharpen skillsets and develop proficiencies in our products and services. Occasionally you may be tasked with other duties outside of metal fabrication as it relates to other building needs in the shop.

Additional building experience in a wood shop environment is preferred. Experience in assembling cabinets, using table saws, gluing and fastening assemblies, etc.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Mission:

Metal Fabrication

  • Using detailed engineering drawings, fabricating structures, exhibits and displays using stock materials (primarily aluminum, steel, etc.).
  • Able to rapidly turn around prototypes and small production runs in a fast-paced work environment, with a focus on clean aesthetics ahead of structural designs.
  • Work may include complex bending of sheet metal, rod, or wire and which may incorporate wood, plastics, laminates, lighting, low-voltage wiring, motion-control systems and electronics.
  • Cutting, Welding (TIG/MIG), Bending, Shearing, Drilling, Tapping, Grinding, etc. are regular tasks and responsibilities.

Fostering Teamwork:

  • Assist Lead Builders by performing the necessary tasks to complete work orders in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
  • Seek to work as part of a collaborative team to develop experience and knowledge. Listen and respond constructively to other team members.

Initiative:

  • Be a self-starter and take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Communicate proactively with management and/or team members to increase clarity of the project expectations and seek to resolve challenges that arise with a "can do" attitude.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as the wood shop to meet deadlines.
  • Transact daily activity in accordance with ImagiCorps' timekeeping procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school education and basic math skills required.
  • 3-5 years' experience as a metal fabricator.
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including shears, rollers, flame cutters and drill presses.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures.
  • Able to read and understand engineered drawings.

SKILLS

  • Exercise good judgement in maintaining a safe work environment and be active member of the team in promoting safety.
  • Capable of fabricating, cutting and assembling materials as detailed in drawing sets.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written/oral communication skills.

ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and respond appropriately to constant change in priorities and services as necessary.
  • Ability to follow detailed instruction and protocol. May be required to set up fabricating machines and design custom templates/jigs.
  • Ability to safely handle hand tools, power tools, (i.e. table saw, drills, sanders, nail guns, etc.), pallet jack and/or hand truck.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

  • None required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Move about a manufacturing environment, standing for long periods of time, and performance of repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
