The Sales Development Representative Role
The Sales Development Representative (SDR) is an entry-level sales role responsible for generating new business opportunities and supporting the success of the field sales team. SDRs focus on prospecting, lead qualification, and outbound outreach, while also providing administrative sales support such as quoting and follow-ups. Success in this role is measured by both revenue contribution and consistent completion of weighted daily and weekly activity goals.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partnering with field-based Educational Sales Consultants to drive pipeline growth in assigned territories.
- Managing inbound leads, qualifying prospects, and ensuring timely follow-up.
- Conducting outbound prospecting through calls, emails, LinkedIn, and other digital channels to generate new opportunities.
- Consistently completing daily/weekly/monthly outreach goals based on a weighted activity model that emphasizes high-value interactions (live connects, meetings booked, qualified opportunities) supported by activities such as emails and voicemails.
- Scheduling appointments, demos, and presentations for Account Managers and Educational Sales Consultants.
- Supporting sales efforts with administrative tasks including quoting, order entry, and follow-up on outstanding proposals.
- Maintaining accurate records in CRM to track activity, pipeline, and next steps.
- Researching target schools and districts to identify decision-makers and potential whitespace opportunities.
- Collaborating with marketing on campaigns and lead generation initiatives.
- Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing coaching for continuous development.
Your Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred (education, business, or related field). Equivalent experience considered.
- 0–2 years of sales, inside sales, or customer-facing experience.
- Strong interest in a career in sales and a passion for helping schools and educators.
- Excellent communication skills via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
- Comfortable making high volumes of outbound calls and digital touches daily.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple leads and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and accountable to daily/weekly activity expectations.
- Experience with CRM tools and Microsoft Office; Salesforce preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills with a team-first mindset.
