POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Community Engagement Specialist connects the organization with various members of the community to build brand awareness and foster relationships with volunteers, businesses, and other constituents to support Lanakila Pacific's mission. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and leading outreach events to increase visibility, building partnerships to amplify impact of programs and services, and recruiting volunteers to support program operations and initiatives. The Community Engagement Specialist supports the mission, vision and values of the organization, and upholds and enforces the guidelines and policies of the organization, and demonstrates Lanakila Pacific's values of teamwork, excellence, achievement, and motivation in all personal interactions and exemplifies Lanakila's STAR service standards.
KEY SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Specific Duties:
Create and implement strategies to seek identify and engage prospective and existing community members (individuals, organizations, schools, and businesses) through volunteerism, fundraising, and other support. This may include participation in third-party events, public speaking engagements, etc.
Actively participate and work collaboratively in the planning and execution of special events, fundraising campaigns, etc. including INSPO and The Good Table.
Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Development to ensure community engagement initiatives align with marketing and branding strategic plan and guidelines.
Support Lanakila Pacific programs and services in planning and staffing participation in third-party community events and initiatives, ensuring appropriate brand alignment and activation.
Lead in the planning and coordination of Lanakila Pacific relationship-building events and activities in collaboration with Marketing and other respective departments, including Volunteer Appreciation Week, Client Appreciation Week, etc.
Create and implement strategies to recruit volunteers to meet organizational needs, effectively using different methods such as phone, email, fairs/booths, and face-to-face, off-site in the community.
Maintain accurate records of community contacts, volunteer activities, and engagement metrics.
Communicate regularly with Lanakila Pacific departments to understand their volunteer needs including the number of volunteers, volunteer qualifications, and volunteer duties to ensure delivery of adequate volunteer support for daily operations and special projects/events (excludes training and task assignments).
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with organizations, volunteers, participants, staff, and community.
Organize and conduct onsite tours of Lanakila Pacific
Represent Lanakila Pacific at community events
Other Duties:
Performs other reasonably related business duties as requested.
Responsible for department/program expenditures and the security of all assets assigned; ensures accurate reporting of expenditures, activities, and statistical data.
Participates in the preparation of the department/program annual operating budget.
Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Human Services, or related field. A High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion or equivalent plus years of experience in a closely related field may qualify to be substituted on a year-to-year basis for the education requirement.
Demonstrated experience in project management in a related field.
Clearance/Certification: 1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug testing, 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check, 5) Valid driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and access to an insured vehicle.
Preferred:
Three years of work experience in marketing or communications, preferably in nonprofit sector
Demonstrated graphic design skills
Strong connections to the community. Demonstrated awareness of cultural sensitivity and adapting to the situation/audience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Schedule
Normal Company Hours: Monday through Friday: 7:30 am – 4 pm; scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Work days/shifts may vary.
Required to work outside of program hours, including weekends, evenings, and Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays to meet operational needs and contract requirements.
