Head Counselor, Residence Life

New York, New York, United States The Juilliard School Full time
Description

Description:

The Head Counselor (HC) is a student staff member who lives in an assigned suite in the Meredith Willson Residence Hall and assists in the implementation of the Juilliard Summer Programs.

The HC serves as a role model, peer counselor, and builds community for the participants of the Juilliard Summer Programs and is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of a group of campers that reside within the residence hall. The HC serves on call within a duty rotation of other Resident Counselors and reports directly to the Summer Conference and Residence Life Coordinator.

Staff members' work does not easily translate into hours worked per day or week. As a general guideline, HCs should anticipate a minimum of 20 hours per week of regularly scheduled responsibilities (e.g., time in their community, staff meetings, staff duty, and other responsibilities). HCs are expected to assist in procedures for emergencies including natural disasters, building or campus-wide emergencies, building coverage, medical, mental health, facility issues, and anything else that may permit an "all-hands" response.

Employment Period

The employment period is from June 29, 2025-July 26, 2025. Staff members are expected to participate in all training sessions. Some days will require additional assistance that include but is not limited to Resident Counselor training and residence hall opening and closing.

Renumeration

  • Single bedroom within a shared suite and a meal plan
  • $1600 for term of employment
