Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The COTA will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to provide patient-centered care across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. This role involves assisting patients of all ages in regaining independence through therapeutic activities and interventions tailored to their individual needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology, along with experience in diverse clinical settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to promote patient independence and functional ability.
  • Implement treatment plans developed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring adherence to prescribed care strategies.
  • Support patients in rehabilitation exercises and therapeutic activities across inpatient, outpatient, home health, and skilled nursing environments.
  • Document patient progress accurately and communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient responses and needs.
  • Help develop and modify care plans based on patient progress and changing needs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for both patients and staff.
  • Educate patients and family members on therapeutic exercises and strategies to support ongoing recovery at home or in community settings.

Experience

  • Prior experience in geriatrics, is highly desirable
  • Skilled nursing facility experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
  • Experience assisting with ADLs and implementing care plans tailored to diverse patient populations.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging procedures is a plus but not required.
