The Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, the world's leading privately owned orthodontic publication, is seeking a Managing Editor to work remotely and from its office in Greenwood Village, Colo. Most work can be done remotely, but applicant must either live in the Denver area or be willing to relocate. This position reports directly to the President and works under the overall guidance of the Editor-in-Chief.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the Assistant Editor and Editorial Assistant.
  • Schedule articles for each issue and manage every stage of preparation after acceptance by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board.
  • Coordinate the solicitation of material for special articles.
  • Edit accepted articles into JCO style before final editing by the Consulting Editor.
  • Work with the Art Director in designing each article.
  • Proofread articles at every stage of production.
  • Represent the Journal at events where required

Qualifications should include a college degree in journalism, English, or a related field and pertinent experience in editorial management. Experience in dental or medical editing and a background in the orthodontic industry are helpful but not required. A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite will also be useful. The successful applicant will demonstrate a high degree of organization and an ability to work efficiently and accurately under deadlines. Salary dependent on experience and qualifications, range of $70,000-$90,000 a year. Medical, dental, and vision benefits provided, as well as annual $7,200 medical insurance and reimbursement plan. 401k plan open to all employees after one year of employment, with limited company matching.
