Position Description – What The Role Entails
The Director of Community Engagement and Impact, under the supervision of the Chief Engagement & Communications Officer, plays a key leadership role within the Marketing and Communications Department, driving initiatives that strengthen community alignment with the organization's mission.
This position develops strategic partnerships, advances impact-centered programs, and ensures community indicators are clearly measured and communicated. By integrating community insights into brand strategy and messaging, the Director helps elevate the organization's mission, voice, visibility, and relevance across diverse audiences.
In addition, the Director drives integrated marketing and communications efforts to build the organization's public presence, strengthen brand recognition, and ensure consistent messaging across all channels. The Director works collaboratively with the Chief Engagement & Communications Officer, leadership team members, and program staff to align engagement and communications strategies with institutional goals.

Areas Of Accountability - What You Will Be Doing
- Lead Community Engagement and Impact Strategy
- Design and implement organization-wide strategies that center community voice, promote equity, and drive measurable social change.
- Align community engagement efforts with organizational priorities in close collaboration with organizational leadership.
- Provide recommendation on emerging community needs, risks, and opportunities that influence institutional direction.
- Ensure that community perspective is embedded in planning, positioning, and high-level recommendation for decision-making processes.
- Strengthen Strategic Partnerships
- Build and sustain mission-aligned partnerships that extend the organization's impact and visibility.
- Cultivate relationships across nonprofit, philanthropic, civic, and corporate sectors to co-create initiatives that address community needs.
- Represent the organization in coalitions, educational summits, and public forums.
- Position the organization as a trusted convener and thought leader in community engagement and social impact.
- Direct Impact Measurement and Communication
- Develop and implement tools, metrics, and evaluation frameworks that capture both qualitative and quantitative impact.
- Integrate impact data and community insights into fundraising strategies, donor communications, and institutional storytelling.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency in reporting to stakeholders, funders, and the public.
- Drive Innovation and Resource Development
- Identify opportunities for innovation in community impact, and coordinate the logistics to secure resources to support long-term growth and sustainability.
- Develop theories and concepts based on institutional realignment, strategic partnership, or partnership cultivation that respond to emerging community needs and align with philanthropic priorities.
- Collaborate with the Development team to secure grants and partnerships for new initiatives and pilot programs.
- Advocacy, Education, and International Initiatives
- Collaborate with the CE&CO to create position statements, advocacy strategies, and implementation plans.
- Collaborates with CE&CO on major communication strategies on assigned initiatives that impact local, national, and international stakeholders.
- Participate in assigned organizational or external committees.
- All other duties as assigned.

- National and international travel is required.

The Knowledge and Expertise that Matters Most - What you bring to the Role:
- Experience with Microsoft Suite, Teams.
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact, and Mailchimp.
- Knowledge of social media, digital strategy, and online advertising for fundraising campaigns.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) or multicultural communications experience is a strong asset.
Position Qualifications – What Is Required To Perform The Role
- Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or Political Science or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit advocacy, community education, or communications.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working with diverse, multicultural, and underrepresented communities.
