Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Tow Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring timely and efficient towing operations. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to handle various roadside situations professionally. The Tow Truck Driver will operate flatbed and traditional tow trucks, including those equipped with forklifts, to assist customers in need.
Duties
- Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and other models, to recover and transport vehicles.
- Load and unload vehicles with care, ensuring minimal damage during transit.
- Perform basic automotive diagnostics and mechanical assessments when necessary.
- Use automotive repair knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues or communicate effectively with repair shops.
- Manage conflict resolution professionally when dealing with distressed customers or roadside situations.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards on the tow truck and work area.
- Assist in vehicle recovery operations involving manual transmissions or specialized equipment like forklifts.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly and professionally with clients during stressful situations.
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws while operating the tow truck.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating tow trucks, especially flatbeds, is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicles, including automotive diagnostics and repair basics.
- Familiarity with manual transmissions and automotive systems.
- Ability to load & unload vehicles safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts if necessary.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage conflicts effectively.
- Experience in automotive repair or mechanic work is a plus.
- Physical ability to load/unload vehicles and perform roadside assistance tasks.
- Prior experience with forklift operation is advantageous but not required. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment requiring technical skills, professionalism, and excellent customer interaction capabilities.
Pay: $ $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 80 per week
