Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment used in construction, farming, and transportation. This position requires strong mechanical expertise, the ability to interpret schematics, and proficiency with various tools and diagnostic systems. The role offers an opportunity to work with diverse equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers, ensuring optimal performance and safety across our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repair, transmission servicing, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical diagnostics.
  • Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, and hand tools.
  • Use OEM manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Conduct alignment procedures and ensure proper calibration of equipment.
  • Maintain detailed service records and document repairs accurately.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of machinery for repairs or upgrades.
  • Operate heavy equipment safely during testing or troubleshooting phases.
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.

Qualifications

  • CAT (Caterpillar) experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or service technician with dealership experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and suspension components.
  • Proficiency with automotive diagnostics tools and schematics interpretation.
  • Experience working with OEM parts and performing fabrication tasks such as welding or soldering.
  • Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and heavy lifting equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, and automotive repair is desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnostics and repairs.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
