Job Summary 

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk plays a critical role in managing the flow of goods in and out of the facility. This position is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting incoming shipments; preparing and processing outgoing orders; maintaining inventory records; and ensuring timely fulfillment of customer and internal requests. The role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with warehouse systems, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Accept and document packages and deliveries made to the facility.
• Store items received in appropriate storage areas.
• Prepare items for shipping, noting item contents, delivery methods, and other logistical details.
• Track inventory and maintain and keep accurate records.
• Inspect goods for damage and resolve any shipping or storage issues as they arise.
• Print shipping labels and necessary documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing slips).
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Distribute products to other departments as needed.
• Maintain a clearly organized workspace and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by department manager.

Competencies

• Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, inventory counts, and shipment inspections.
• Maintains organization in the workspace and efficiently manage multiple tasks.
• Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and other departments.
• Identifies and resolves discrepancies or issues in shipping and receiving processes.
• Provides customer service support to internal and external customers.
• Handles several responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Prior warehouse experience with a minimum of 1 year experience.
• Forklift experience and certification with a minimum of 1 year experience.
• Proficiency with basic computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Physical strength and stamina to lift, carry, and unpack heavy items.
• Ability to bend, crouch, and stand for long periods.
• GED or High School degree required.
• The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Employees may work with co-workers' side-by-side with a moderate level of activity being performed. Exposure to high voltage AC/DC power is very common in many work environments. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
