Reports to: Director of Nursing

OVERVIEW:

The patient transporter is directly responsible for the courteous, safe and timely movement of patients from one patient care area to another within the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transports patients by assisting patients in and out of vehicles; lifting patients on and off beds; moving them to and from special service and treatment areas; using wheelchairs or moveable beds

  • Transports equipment and supplies by picking-up requisitioned orders; delivering them to assigned treatment areas and patient care areas

  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with federal and state legal regulations and requirements

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

  • Assist in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in patient transport, medical experience and patient contact preferred

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency

C ACTIVE CNA license

Current CPR

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has no supervisory requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center.

  • Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.

  • Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand for long periods of time; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear.

  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
