Electronic Security Systems Field Integrator

Des Moines, Iowa, United States Caspian Tech Full time
About the Role

Step into a field role where every day blends hands-on craftsmanship with network-savvy integration. You'll be the go-to expert installing and servicing low-voltage electronic security solutions—intrusion alarm panels (Lenel, Bosch, DMP), access control, video surveillance, structured cabling, and nurse call systems—while ensuring each deployment meets code, functions flawlessly, and integrates cleanly with IT infrastructure.

A Day in the Life

Morning kicks off with a review of your service tickets and project schedule. First stop: commissioning a DMP panel, testing sensors, and validating video streams. Next, you'll integrate a Lenel access control system with monitoring software, verify remote access, and document configurations. In the afternoon, you might climb a ladder to adjust a camera angle, run structured cabling for a new wing, or coach a junior tech on best practices. Throughout, you'll collaborate with clients and contractors, adhere to safety procedures and NFPA standards where applicable, and keep meticulous records of work performed.

What You'll Handle
  • Install, program, and service intrusion alarms (Lenel, Bosch, DMP), access control, video surveillance, nurse call, and related wiring/cabling.
  • Perform inspections, functional testing, and preventive maintenance to meet local codes and industry standards.
  • Diagnose panel, sensor, camera, and device issues and implement fixes that minimize downtime.
  • Configure systems for IP-based operation; integrate with networks, monitoring software, and remote tools.
  • Partner with clients, trades, and GC/EC teams to align scope, timelines, and specifications.
  • Document site conditions, configurations, change orders, and service outcomes accurately.
  • Follow company safety policies and NFPA guidance (for fire-related interfaces) at all times.
  • Mentor junior technicians and orient end users on system operation and maintenance.
  • Stay current on new platforms and features to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work independently or within a crew, taking initiative on complex, multi-discipline projects.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification, associate in electronics/electrical, or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on low-voltage experience across structured cabling, CCTV, access control, nurse call, or alarm systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and OEM manuals.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices, IP networking basics, and system integration.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Outlook); strong written and verbal communication.
  • Customer-first attitude and professional presence.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable record; Security License required.
  • Fluency in English (required).
  • Willing to travel up to 50% within the region and out-of-state; expenses and per diem covered by Caspian.
Preferred
  • Product certifications: Lenel, Bosch, DMP (or comparable).
  • Experience with CCTV, intercoms, fire alarm interfaces, and broader low-voltage ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes and advanced troubleshooting in integrated environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; climb ladders; work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varied environmental conditions.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $65,000–$72,000 per year (DOE).
  • Medical, dental, vision, and HSA.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Life insurance.
  • PTO and paid holidays.
  • Flexible scheduling.
  • Professional development and certification reimbursement.
  • Company vehicle for work-related travel.
