Title: Pit Hand/Prep Cook

Reports to: Kitchen Lead

Category: Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Summary of Position

Looking for a cook eager to enter the world of Central Texas Barbecue. This position includes cooking on the smokers, as well as preparing both sides and desserts. At Smokemade Meats + Eats team members should be open to learning a number of tasks to better help the team.

All team members will receive a percentage of customer tips.

Duties & Responsibilities

● Complete opening and closing checklists

● Refer to Daily Prep List and Checklists at the start of each shift for assigned duties.

● Operate the smokers, master fire management to safely and effectively smoke meats

● Participates in all cooking including sides and baked goods

● Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryer, sauté burners, convection oven, range and refrigeration equipment

● Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations.

● Assists others in closing the kitchen

● Effectively communicates with Kitchen Lead or Manager to address equipment issues, food quality concerns, and product shortages immediately

● Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Leads or manager-on-duty.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

● Available to work early(as early as 5:00am) or night shifts(as late as 2:00am).

● No previous restaurant experience required.

● Be able to safely lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Be able to reach, bend, and stoop.

● Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.

● Be able to work outdoors through all seasons.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
