Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Grill Cook to join our team at the Flavor Hills Durham location. The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to the restaurant's standards, ensuring that every meal served meets our guests' expectations. This role requires precision, speed, and a commitment to culinary excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grill Station Operations: Set up and maintain the grill station, ensuring all equipment and utensils are clean and in proper working condition. Cook meats, seafood, and vegetables according to recipe specifications.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook menu items as ordered, ensuring proper grill marks, doneness, and presentation. Follow recipes and portion control standards.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients used and the finished product to ensure consistency and high standards. Adjust seasoning and ingredients as necessary.
  • Timing & Efficiency: Manage multiple orders simultaneously, prioritizing and coordinating with other kitchen stations to ensure timely service.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies, including proper handling of food, maintaining a clean work environment, and following food safety guidelines.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in tracking and managing grill station inventory, ensuring adequate supply of ingredients and notifying management of any shortages.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service. Communicate effectively with the culinary team and front-of-house staff.
  • Station Cleanup: Properly clean and sanitize the grill station and equipment at the end of each shift, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Grill Cook or similar role in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of grilling techniques and temperature control for a variety of proteins and vegetables.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Excellent knife skills and proficiency in kitchen techniques.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Positive attitude and a passion for culinary excellence.
