The Automation Delivery Team manages the implementation of strategic initiatives for the Utilization Management (UM) Clinical Services organization. These initiatives leverage technical capabilities such as artificial intelligence, rules engines, predictive analytics, intelligent character recognition, and cognitive AI to automate UM transactions, enhance workflow efficiencies, and improve the experience for providers and members.
This role is for a Senior Program Manager (Product Owner) responsible for managing multiple projects from conception through delivery. The Senior Program Manager will collaborate with business partners to understand objectives and work with a wide range of stakeholders—including Analytics, Architecture, IT, and Strategy—to define requirements, break down initiatives into actionable user stories, and ensure successful execution.
The role also includes driving investment planning, roadmaps, and value realization, while ensuring that planning, execution, and reporting through dashboards and other mechanisms are consistent, transparent, and aligned with organizational priorities to deliver measurable outcomes.
Key Accountabilities:
- Strategic Initiative Delivery-Lead the end-to-end management of multiple automation projects from conception through delivery, ensuring alignment with UM Clinical Services objectives and organizational priorities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration-Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams—including Analytics, Architecture, IT, and Strategy—to define objectives, translate them into actionable user stories, and drive successful execution.
- Requirements and Documentation-Develop comprehensive business and technical requirements, including process flows, outcome diagrams, and acceptance criteria, to support clear communication and efficient delivery.
- Investment Planning and Roadmaps-Drive investment planning and roadmap development, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable value and support long-term strategic goals.
- Performance Reporting and Value Realization- Manage planning, execution, and reporting through dashboards and other mechanisms to provide transparency, track progress, and demonstrate value realization across initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 6–10 years of experience as a Product Owner, Program Manager, or equivalent role managing complex products or features in a business or technology environment.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams—including business, analytics, architecture, and IT—through the full project lifecycle, from discovery and design to development, testing, and implementation, ensuring successful delivery of strategic initiatives
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse groups toward common goals.
- Experience developing and presenting process flows, business requirements documents, and other supporting materials to drive clarity and alignment.
- Experience in the healthcare industry, with a strong understanding of healthcare operations, regulations, and technology solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of automation technologies such as AI, rules engines, predictive analytics, and workflow optimization.
- Certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or SAFe.
- Experience leading product development of microservices and APIs in a cloud-native architecture (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe POPM (Product Owner/Product Manager) certified
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related field equivalent experience or 8-10 years of experience related to standards & measurements, technology, systems and processes, including project consultation
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$75, $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
