Principal Industrial Designer, Delivery Experience

This Principal Industrial Design role seeks a candidate to work with our engineering, operations, manufacturing, and UX design teams on the framing and definition of current and future product opportunities. Successful candidates will demonstrate a desire to experiment and work well with others.
Key job responsibilities
- Use 2D and 3D tools to create designs that combine product appeal, functionality, and manufacturability
- Develop design strategies to bring cohesion and consistency to the product portfolio
- Oversee design and fabrication of compelling functional and/or appearance prototypes for review by team leaders and executive staff
- Work with suppliers and engineers to develop, refine, and document high-quality, cost-effective manufacturing methods
About the team
The Amazon Delivery Experience design studio is an interdisciplinary team covering visual, UX, industrial and communication design. Our studio encompasses all aspects of Amazon delivery, from items being sent for shipping, the actual delivery process, all the way to customers indicating their delivery preferences.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant work in industry or academia experience
- Experience in new hardware product development
- Experience communicating with customers, technical, regulatory, business teams, and management to collect requirements, describe product features, and technical designs
- Mastery over 2D and 3D visualization tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of material and manufacturing methods
- Experience in visual design expertise with ability to produce fresh, simple, elegant and exceedingly usable layouts and interactions and iconography
- Experience designing electro-mechanical systems with significant user interaction elements a strong plus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
