Job Summary:
The Certified Automotive Diesel Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems in customer and dealership-owned vehicles. This role requires advanced technical skills, strong diagnostic capabilities, and adherence to manufacturer and dealership standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate and efficient diagnosis, repair, and maintenance on diesel trucks and vehicles, including engines, fuel systems, drivetrains, electrical systems, emissions components, and HVAC systems.
- Complete manufacturer-recommended services and repairs according to certification guidelines and warranty requirements.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools, scan equipment, and technical manuals to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
- Document all work performed using the dealership's repair order system, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Communicate effectively with Service Advisors regarding required repairs, timelines, and parts needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA, dealership, and manufacturer standards.
- Attend ongoing training to maintain diesel certifications and stay current with new technology and repair procedures.
- Road test vehicles to verify repair accuracy as necessary.
- Assist fellow technicians when needed to support workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Follow all dealership policies, including safety procedures, timekeeping requirements, and ethical repair practices.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Certification as a Diesel Technician (e.g., OEM diesel certification, ASE Diesel Certifications).
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on diesel repair experience.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate dealership-required equipment, diagnostic software, and specialty tools.
- Master-level certification in diesel systems.
- Experience working in a dealership environment.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
- Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, electrical diagnostics, emissions systems, and onboard computer controls.
- Ability to interpret technical information, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic reports.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a high-volume service environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, and work in various shop conditions.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Master-level certification in diesel systems.
- Experience working in a dealership environment.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
