Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.
FLSA StatusNon-Exempt Job Role Summary
The Radiologic Technologist performs standard diagnostic radiographic procedures on designated parts of the body, as required by physician's orders. This position reports to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging Services.
Available Schedules:
- 9:00am-730pm; Mon-Thurs
- 8:30am-7:00pm; Mon-Thurs
- 1:30pm-12:00am; Mon-Thurs
- 11:00am-9:30pm; Tues-Fri
- 6:30am-7:00pm; Sat/Sun
- Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's Mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health's values
- Performs standard diagnostic radiographic procedures on designated parts of the body, as required by physician's orders
- Selects proper exposure factors of radiographic equipment for each examination
- Positions and instructs patients while utilizing protective shielding, immobilization, and supportive devices, as required
- Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment and orders repairs when needed
- Ensures procedures are properly tracked in EPIC; ensures all patients and their information is logged
- Provides adequate and timely communication with staff; encourages involvement and participation from the staff in departmental operations
- Alters activities/behaviors to reflect/ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e. adolescent, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal, adult)
- Cooperates with the affiliated institution to provide sound clinical experience to healthcare students
- Observes and supervises students during-x-ray intervention, and assures adherence to aseptic and safety practices; evaluates students and programs as requested
- Participates in the technologist's call schedule
- Trains and precepts students and/or new employees
- Must remain in compliance with all accreditations including but not limited to: American College of Radiology, Indiana State Department of Health and The Joint Commission education, license and certification requirements.
- Indiana licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
- ARRT registration required
- Current CPR Certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of anatomy, radiographic techniques, and radiologic positioning
- Knowledge of and compliance with procedures to maintain a safe environment for the patient, staff, all non-radiology personnel, visitors, family members and self
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care
- Knowledge of all radiologic equipment, drug utilization and contrast media, technical procedures (within assigned area), and hospital protocols
- Knowledge of safety procedures to minimize risk to pediatric, adolescence, adult and geriatric patients, coworkers and self
- Knowledge of and compliance with Eskenazi Health's Infection Control and Communicable Disease policies and procedures
- Ability to observe and perceive changing patient conditions, and to report questionable conditions to physicians and nursing personnel
- Working knowledge of all modalities, EPIC and PACS
- Ability to be flexible in the face of changing work duties and priorities
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to handle patient contacts with high degree of tact
- Knowledge required to determine and use lowest possible exposure dose to ensure safety to the patient without jeopardizing image quality
