BSA Analyst (Korean/English Bilingual)

Position Summary

Woori America Bank is seeking Korean/English Bilingual BSA Analysts to join our Compliance Department. The BSA Analyst plays a vital role in monitoring, analyzing, and documenting suspicious activities to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC regulations, and internal policies. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for ensuring regulatory compliance within a dynamic financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Transaction Monitoring & AML Investigations

  • Review, analyze, and disposition assigned alerts for suspicious or unusual activity
  • Identify potential money laundering patterns and escalate cases as appropriate
  • Collaborate with other analysts on special investigations and regulatory reporting

2. OFAC Alert Processing

  • Review, investigate, and disposition assigned OFAC alerts and matches (80–99%)
  • Screen new account customers and international transactions involving high-risk jurisdictions
  • Ensure compliance with OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act Section 326, and the Bank's Customer Identification Program (CIP)
  • Report blocked or prohibited transactions timely with the Assistant BSA Officer or Team Lead
  • Conduct validation testing for OFAC SDN list updates, including internal and PEP list revisions
  • Review OFAC sanctions programs and assist in identifying sanctioned entities and transactions requiring licenses
  • Support preparation of monthly Board of Directors compliance reports

3. Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR)

  • Review and reconcile all daily CTRs prior to electronic filing with FinCEN
  • Verify that all CTR batches are generated and processed accurately and promptly
  • Ensure CTR filings are complete, compliant, and approved before submission
  • Assist with CTR e-filing, verification, and acknowledgment tracking
  • Notify the BSA Officer or Deputy BSA Officer of deficiencies or incomplete filings
  • Support management of CTR user access and assist TM Investigation Unit with alert clearance

4. Account Opening – CIP / KYC / CDD

  • Review new account documentation for compliance with CIP and CDD requirements
  • Conduct data quality checks between the Bank's core system, CIF, and Verafin
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of Verafin CDD Questionnaires for every new account
  • Conduct special reviews or investigations as requested

5. Regulatory Reporting & Compliance Support

  • Monitor compliance with BSA/AML, OFAC, and FinCEN standards
  • Assist in audits, regulatory examinations, and examiner requests
  • Participate in team training sessions and support new hires in compliance procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred
  • Prefer CAMS certified candidates; but not required
  • 3-5 years of banking experience required (compliance or operations experience preferred)
  • Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English (verbal and written)
  • Solid understanding of BSA/AML, OFAC sanctions, and CIP/CDD requirements
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
