POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Safety Officer in monitoring and developing University Health's employee health and safety programs.
  • Is responsible for managing the Healthcare Safety Advocate Program.
  • Facilitates staff injury prevention through accident and injury investigations, cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
  • Assists with the implementation and monitoring of compliance with established regulatory standards and University Health policies.
  • Conducts ergonomic assessments and develops effective training programs for the prevention and reduction of employee injuries.
  • Collects and analyzes employee injury data.
  • Assists with facilitating and participating in events to promote health and safety.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • And/or two years experience in accident prevention and loss control programs, including at least one year of professional work experience in developing and presenting safety education training programs for employees.
  • Healthcare experience is helpful, analytical experience necessary.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local safety standards is preferred.
  • English-Spanish bilingual ability is preferred.

CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE

  • Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License is required.
