We're looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world's most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.
At Peraton, you won't just support the mission — you'll define it.
Help shape the future of U.S. airspace safety and efficiency. We are seeking a Technical Writer (Manager) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will lead a team of writers, editors, and documentation specialists in support of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In this role, you will oversee the creation, review, and maintenance of technical documentation, ensuring clarity, compliance, and consistency across FAA modernization programs. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth experience in federal contracting while supporting high-visibility aviation programs.
In this position, you will:
Manage a team of technical writers and editors, ensuring high-quality deliverables across multiple FAA projects.
Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides aligned with FAA and federal requirements.
Oversee the development and maintenance of technical manuals, user guides, training materials, proposals, and compliance documentation.
Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity experts, and program managers to translate technical concepts into clear, concise documentation.
Lead reviews and audits of documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with FAA regulations and federal standards.
Ensure all materials comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements and FAA branding guidelines.
Manage documentation schedules, track progress, and allocate resources to meet project deadlines.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to writing staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
Present status reports and documentation readiness updates to FAA leadership and program managers.
Stay current on emerging tools, technologies, and documentation best practices, incorporating them into FAA processes.
Why This Role Matters
The FAA is the cornerstone of aviation safety and innovation. As a Technical Writer Manager, you will ensure that FAA programs are supported by documentation that enhances safety, compliance, and knowledge sharing. Your leadership will enable FAA engineers, operators, and stakeholders to work confidently with complex systems—reducing risk, ensuring compliance, and supporting the success of mission-critical initiatives.
