Educational Advocate / IEP Support Specialist (1099 Contractor)

Wellness in Motion is a community-based wellness program supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through individualized life skills coaching, social support, and family education. We partner closely with families to provide practical, strengths-based support across home, school, and community settings.

We are seeking a part-time Educational Advocate / IEP Support Specialist to join our team as an independent contractor.

What You'll Do

  • Support families in preparing for IEP and transition meetings
  • Review IEP documents, goals, and accommodations with caregivers
  • Attend IEP meetings (virtually or in person) as family support, when requested
  • Help families organize concerns, questions, and follow-up steps
  • Educate caregivers on special education processes and available supports
  • Collaborate with Wellness in Motion staff as part of a coordinated care model

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience with special education, disability services, or family advocacy
  • Familiarity with IEPs, accommodations, and transition planning
  • Background in education, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable working independently with families

Important Scope of Practice

This role is non-clinical and non-legal. The Educational Advocate provides educational and consultative support only and does not provide therapy, diagnoses, or legal advice.

Position Details

  • Remote and/or community-based, depending on family needs

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $ $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in San Diego, CA
