Location: Plano, Texas (SAC Factory)
Department: Operations
Reports to: Factory Manager
Role Overview
The Process Automation Engineer will design, implement, and maintain automated production lines. This position requires strong technical expertise in both automation hardware and software, excellence in failure analysis and problem-solving for automated systems, and ensure smooth operation of production processes.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, develop, and optimize automated production line systems to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.
· Conduct timely failure analysis of automation equipment/lines, diagnose root causes, and implement effective problem-solving solutions.
· Program, configure, and maintain Programmable Logic Controller systems and related automation software.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, and R&D to integrate automation solutions into manufacturing processes.
· Manage automation hardware selection, installation, commissioning, and routine maintenance.
· Develop and update technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and maintenance manuals for automated systems.
· Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance teams on automation equipment operation and troubleshooting.
· Stay updated with the latest automation technologies and industry trends to propose continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing automated production lines
- Proven experience in process automation, preferably in manufacturing (electronics, SMT, PCBA) environments.
- Certification in PLC programming or automation technologies is a plus
Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, or additional equivalent experience.
Technical Skills:
- Strong capability in automation line failure analysis and problem-solving to minimize production downtime.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and related automation software.
- Comprehensive technical expertise in both automation hardware and software, including familiarity with sensors, actuators, servo systems, and communication protocols Experience with LabVIEW software.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for automation systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is beneficial
Soft Skills: Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Other: Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Ability to collaborate with HQ and local leadership. Ability to speak Mandarin is preferred, but not required.
